REDUCING THE
GLOBAL RECURRENCE
OF KIDNEY STONES

10% of the world's population is affected by kidney stones

Urolithiasis, the formation of kidney stones in the urinary tract, is a global disease. 10% of the world's population will be affected by kidney stones. About 2 million people in Europe and the USA need a medical intervention every single year. Up to 50% of the patients need a follow-up treatment within a few years.

Surgeons must fragment stones, individually localize fragments and extract them one by one by using a basket. However, baskets are ill-suited to capture and retrieve multiple stone fragments at once and to capture small fragments or dust, causing a high recurrence rate.

Why go after stones when they can come to us?

Dymium developed a technology to turn kidney stone fragments into magnetizable objects.  The surgeon can attract stone fragments and dust magnetically which significantly improves stone clearance and drastically reduces recurrence for patients.
